Blue Ridge Pepper Patch
After decades of gardening, Christina Trexler jumped into commercial farming after a friend got her hooked on growing peppers! Now, she grows dozens of different pepper varieties, ranging from sweet and bell peppers, all the way to the hottest pepper in the world, the Carolina Reaper, and everything in between, like habaneros, scotch bonnet, ghost peppers, cayenne and Thai peppers. At the core of her practice is the belief that growing delicious food should never compromise the environment. Her commitment to sustainable farming and soil rehabilitation includes utilizing natural compost, organic-approved pest controls, biocontrol methods, and manual weed management. The farm minimizes its footprint by using water-saving irrigation, sowing seedlings in biodegradable trays, and prioritizing the reuse of nursery pots.
